General Surgery
Saskatchewan
General surgery involves surgery of the abdomen, digestive system
and other parts of the body.
Examples of common general surgery procedures include breast biopsies,
removal of gall bladders, repair of hernias, mastectomies, and removal
of portions of the bowel, colon and rectum.
In Saskatoon, thoracic procedures (e.g. bronchoscopy/mediastinoscopy
- inspections of airways and chest cavities) are reported as general
surgery. In Regina, these surgeries are reported as cardiovascular
procedures.
