Target Time Frames For Surgery

Target Time Frames are “performance goals” for the surgical care system. (For example, The Priority Level I goal is that 95 percent of patients will receive their procedure within 3 weeks.)

Your Priority Level for surgery is determined through a new Patient Assessment Process.

Target Time Frames Priority Classification Table

The Target Time Frames will allow the surgical care system to better monitor and track patients and help to ensure they receive care according to their level of need. Along with the new Patient Assessment Process and the Surgical Patient Registry, the targets will assist surgeons in making decisions about who will receive their surgeries and when. Allocation of operating room time is the responsibility of the Health Regions.

These Targets were developed by a subcommittee of the SSCN that includes physicians and other health care professionals.
