About SSCN
The Saskatchewan Surgical Care Network (SSCN) is an advisory committee
to Saskatchewan Health dedicated to creating a more reasonable,
fair surgical system for all Saskatchewan people. Since March 2002,
the SSCN has been working with key health partners to improve the
system's effectiveness, organization and efficiency, so that those
who require surgery receive it within appropriate time frames.

SSCN's Role
The SSCN's role is key to ensuring a better, more equitable surgical
care system for Saskatchewan people. The network provides advice
to Saskatchewan Health in the following areas:
1. Planning and management of surgical services in Saskatchewan.
| |
 |
SSCN oversees the ongoing development of province-wide
surgical registry to track all patients waiting for surgery. |
| |
|
|
| |
 |
SSCN monitors the capacity of hospitals to deliver specific
surgical services, and advises Saskatchewan Health and the
regions on human resource issues and needs. |
2. Developing standards and monitoring performance.
| |
 |
SSCN works with health partners to implement province-wide
tools that will help doctors to consistently assess their
patients' level of need for surgery, and fairly place them
on the waiting list. |
3. Communicating with the public and health providers on surgical
access issues.
| |
 |
SSCN reports/gathers data on the functioning of the surgical
services system, and publishes this web site. |
